Office Built Ins

Welcome to our office! It’s one of my favorite rooms in the house because of the natural light that floods in. When we bought the house, framing had already been completed so we didn’t have a choice of making this a bedroom with an en suite. We always figured it would be an office eventually but I struggled with the layout. Plus, we wanted office storage and utilizing a standing desk doesn’t help much. We couldn’t put built ins on the wall to the right because of the large opening into the room; so I began sketching a few ideas on paper until something stuck. We worked with Jarrod at American Woodcrafters, who also did our living room built ins (post located here). If you are in the Sacramento area, I highly suggest looking him up. The quality is impeccable and he is very helpful with the design process as well.

We decided on a similar look as the living room built ins however I felt like white would be too plain. I know this may be shocking news to some, my husband included, but I always envisioned this space with dark, moody cabinets. So I researched the heck out of navy blues and landed upon Farrow & Ball’s “Railings”, which is the perfect, not too saturated, blackish - navy.

Next up, besides finally being able to put everything away, we want to add lighting around the window and pillows for the window seat. We also just placed an order for custom doors for the office opening. More to come!
