Spicy Skinny Margarita Recipe

For starters, I am not a big hard alcohol girl. I stick to wine 99.9% of the time. But last year around Cinco de Mayo, I started to see margarita recipes floating around and a “skinny” one caught my eye. I’ve adjusted it a bit and we decided to add a little kick to it with a couple jalapeño slices (which my husband loves). If you want only a slight dose of heat, just drop the jalapeño slices in. If you want a spicier marg, muddle those bad boys. What I love most about this recipe is it doesn’t give me a belly ache. I’m personally not a fan when it tastes like a pound of sugar was blended in. My husband claims these don’t give him hangovers either. Everybody wins here.

Recipe:

  • 1.5 Limes

  • 0.5 Lemon

  • 1 Drop of Agave Sweetener

  • 1 oz Triple Sec

  • 3 oz Tequila

  • 2-3 Jalapeño slices (optional)

I tweaked the original recipe by adding a bit more lime and cutting down on the alcohol. There’s a happy medium of balance between the lime and tequila that may take a bit of adjusting for your personal preference. I also recommend using at least a middle of the road tequila. We like this Teremana Reposado by The Rock which boasts notes of oak and vanilla with a smooth, rich finish. In contrast, Blanco Tequila has a fresher finish with bright citrus notes. Teremana Tequila is gluten free, zero carbs and zero sugars. Not sponsored, but wouldn’t complain if it was! We just like the taste.
