Styled Built Ins
The built ins were officially finished at the end of last summer, however it’s taken about 6 months to style and fill them. I’ve slowly collected and tried to be intentional with any purchases. Filling these shelves has become somewhat of a puzzle at times, but I love that many of these pieces have meaning behind them.
I am not a big fan of clutter, so I went with the less is more strategy when looking for items. I also gravitated towards objects that were more substantial in size to help fill the space and items that offered different textures. The coffee table books were a bit of a project trying to find the right size, color of spine and while adhering to the rule of ‘if I will never flip through it, I’m not buying it.’ The books all encompass places and things we love.
This navy framed pennate is one of my favorite pieces in our entire house. It’s such a good daily reminder. Overall, I tried to stick to neutrals with a few earth tones and pops of color. I also love having a place that I can switch out florals, especially once summer comes and our garden is thriving. Having little pops of fresh greens really helps me feel at home.
Lastly, I wanted the art to be different but have a similar feel to it all. I stumbled upon this sketch on an Etsy shop and instantly fell in love. It looks exactly like Tucker. I purchased the Fine Wineries book on the first trip I took to Napa right after I moved to California almost 10 years ago.
Thanks so much for stopping by! xx
