Office Doors

The Modern Tudor-1465.jpg

The doors are finally here! It’s been a long time coming. Finishing the office has taken much longer than we expected, but this was a big step in the process. We now can shut the dogs out while maintaining that open feeling in our entryway and let the natural light pour in from our office.

We started talking about the doors over a year ago but it wasn’t until Norman started jumping up on our window sill that we knew we had to somehow close this room off. One of my favorite things about our home is how open the entryway feels. We knew we didn’t want to completely close it off so we started searching for doors. Tim and I both loved the look of the iron doors, so we reached out to a recommended “door guy”, K.C. at Newcastle Door & Trim. The issue with the iron doors was they are a one-size fits all; so we would have to fit our opening to the doors or add glass around the doors to fit our opening. Plus, the iron doors weren’t as easy to get ahold of. He recommended making a wood door very similar to the look we wanted, the only difference being in the width of the trim. Since the difference was approximately 1”, we decided to go the custom door route since we could make them to fit our opening.

Overall, the process was much easier than I anticipated. Newcastle Door & Trim made the doors and they were then installed by our General Contractor. I sent K.C. photos of doors we liked and he sent back a couple CAD drawings for me to approve. Then they were delivered and installed within 2 months. We picked the paint color (Tricorn Black by Sherwin Williams) to contrast against the rest of our white doors and decided on matte black hardware to match the doors.
